Rome - Nos Chants Perdus

Rome as many of you may or may not know are a Luxembourg based Neofolk and Martial Folk band best known for their militaristic, marching band(and not like in high school) sound but upon the release of this album Rome decided to change styles and that did not bode well with fans of their older material.

Nos Chants Perdus is an experiment in a poppier take on Martial Folk, it emphases melody over atmosphere and unlike so many Neofolk and Martial Folk bands Rome's lyrics lean left of the political spectrum(not to say that this is political music.)  As I already mentioned this change in sound did not go over well with many of Rome's fans but I personally find their shift into a more poppier sound interesting, catchy and ultimately their music doesn't suffer from their change in sound(in fact I think it improves.) So whether or not you're a fan of Neofolk or Martial Folk check out this album if you get a chance, it's a solid 40 minutes of tracks about love, pacifism, banks and God.
